While the chest plate is fitted with three sliding slats (called faulds) to protect the hips, waist, groin and lower abdomen, the handsome back plate is completed with a widely flared culet made up of two wavy sliding bands. overlapping that protect the buttocks. Both the faulds and the culet are articulated on steel rivets. Both the front and back show the typical ridges, filigree cuts and multi-layered look of late medieval Gothic plate armor (15th/16th century). For better corrosion resistance, the interior of the armor is blackened. Please note that this item, while fully wearable, is not a battle-ready breastplate.
