Bishop'S Mantle Leather Straps And Buckles
Bishop's robe made of riveted round rings.
Bishop's robe made of riveted round rings A bishop's robe is a collar of chain mail that covers the neck, shoulders, and upper chest and back. It was especially favored by the German Landknechte (mercenary soldiers) in the 15th and 16th centuries and is woven similar to a mail coif. The shape of this piece of chain mail explains its name, as it closely resembled the very wide collar of a bishop's robe. The bishop's robes made by Ulfberth are inspired by historical examples. They have a jagged edge. A riveted leather lining protects the area around the neck and the neckline is adjustable by means of late medieval genuine brass straps and buckles.
