Medieval long-sleeved steel chainmail shirts were a type of armor that completely covered the torso and arms. These shirts were made of steel rings welded together, and were stronger and heavier than short-sleeved chain mail shirts. The long sleeve allowed greater protection for the arms and torso, and was commonly worn by knights and warriors in the Middle Ages. Although heavier and less flexible than short-sleeved chainmail shirts, long-sleeved medieval chainmail shirts made of steel offered superior protection against attacks with swords and arrows.
