Excalibur is the most accepted name of King Arthur´s legendary sword. There are several theories regarding the origin of its name. One of the most accepted is that it comes from the Latin "Ex Calce Liberatus", "Released from the Stone". Others consider that Excalibur means "Cutting the Steel", referring to one of its many magical properties.
