The Viking shield that we offer here is made of approx. 13mm thick plywood, covered with linen and embellished with a stylized, hand-painted motif of the wolf Fenrir (also iFenrisi or iFenrisúlfri) and a sequence of Elder Futhark runes (oldest runic alphabet) spelling out his name. In Germanic mythology, Fenrir is one of the three torturers of the world, along with Hel and the Midgard serpent Jörmungandr. All three are children of the malicious god Loki and the giantess Angrboda. Fenrir fights against the existing order and ultimately embodies the annihilation of the world.
