The large Viking shield we offer here is made of 13 mm thick plywood and decorated with a stylized motif of the wolf Fenrir (also Fenris or Fenrisúlfr ) and a sequence of runes from the Elder Futhark (oldest runic alphabet) spelling out his name. In Germanic mythology, Fenrir is one of the three world torturers, along with Hel and the Midgard Serpent Jörmungandr.
