In the late Middle Ages and Renaissance, booties (also known as sollerets or solerets) were pieces of plate armor that covered the top and sides of the foot. They were commonly worn by mounted knights to protect their feet against blows from enemy foot soldiers. The jointed shoes of armor we have here are based on 14th century replicas. They are hand forged in 1.5mm thick steel, blackened on the inside for better corrosion resistance and fitted with bottom riveted leather straps. They have no soles and consist of a tapered and pointed toe cap, various hinged bands or lames, an ankle plate, a "tongue" plate, and a heel cap, all connected together by sturdy rivets. This articulated foot armor, equally suitable for historical re-enactments or LARP.
