Early Medieval Slavic Helmet
Replica of a Slavic nasal helmet from the 8th century. Head circumference: up to 62 cm. Long inside distance (back to front): approx. 22.0cm. Short inner distance (ear to ear): approx. 18.0 cm. Material: 2mm steel. Weight: approx. 2.25kg.
This type of helmet was very popular not only among the Slavic tribes, but also among the Rus, Varangians, and Khazars. The hull is made of overlapping sheet metal plates 2 mm thick and riveted. ready for the battle. In the early Middle Ages, the visor of the helmet was attached with horsehair. That's why the hood has a hole. On the lower edges of the helmet there are five loops for attaching chain mail.
