The Hundsgugel is a variation of the late medieval bascinet helmet. Until around 1420, the Hundsgugel was the preferred form of helmet among nobler knights and warriors. The characteristic design of the visor gave this helmet the name Hundsgugel (dog's head) and its widespread use throughout Central Europe. Our reproduction is based on a helmet made in Milan around AD 1390. This helmet is part of the armor from Churburg, Tirol. The helmet is handcrafted in 2 mm thick steel sheet, riveted and welded and thanks to its robustness, it guarantees great protection during recreation combats. The helmet has a flip-up visor, which is also fully removable via pins attached to chains. The helmet also has a comfortable, padded fabric inlay.
