The drinking horn we offer here is handmade from cattle horn, polished and embellished with an engraved Mjölnir motif. Mjölnir (= the grinder or crusher) is the mighty hammer of Thor, the Norse god of thunder and the second highest deity after his father Odin. In Germanic mythology, Mjölnir was forged by the dwarf Brokkr and, once cast, would never miss its target. It was with this same hammer that Thor defeated the giants that ceaselessly threatened the Vanir and Æsir pantheons. Today, Thor's hammer is a popular motif for jewelry, talismans, and decorative items. It is also a symbol of paganism within a Christian environment. For hygiene reasons, the interior is sealed on the inside with a food-safe varnish so you can enjoy your favorite beer (or mead) to the fullest.
