This fully wearable viking goggle helmet with spike and nose is a reconstruction of a helmet found in a burial mound at Gjermundbu farm in Ringerike Municipality, Norway. This Viking helmet is dated to the 9th-10th century, but its general appearance and especially the strips or bands that run along the lower edge, from front to back and from ear to ear, as well as the spectacle protector clearly show its close relationship with the crested helmets of the Vendel Period, which preceded the Viking Age. This reproduction is hand forged in 2 mm thick steel. The helmet's domed bowl, spangen, and face shield are all connected by steel rivets. The blackened interior is equipped with a leather suspension lining, also attached to the bowl with rivets, and the 1 mm thick leather chin strap is closed with a drawstring. The helmet features a short chain mail aventail or camail protecting the neck (as the remains of an aventail could also be identified in the original find). The 4-in-1 mail armor consists of 1.2 mm thick round riveted steel rings with an inner diameter of approx. 8mm. The aventail is attached directly to the bottom edge of the bowl. Material: 2mm steel, leather inlays, leather chinstrap. Chainmail Aventail: Riveted Round Rings (RRR), ID 8mm. Suitable for head circumference up to approx. 63 cm. Weight (with aventail): approx. 3.1kg
